Charging stations such as the Easee One, Easee Charge UpMax and Core are lightning-fast charging stations that consume a lot of power. Simultaneous use of heavy-duty appliances such as heat pumps or induction cooktops can cause the fuses to overload. Easee Equalizer prevents this. This compact device with real-time load balancing automatically manages charging capacity based on your total home consumption, so you always charge more safely, smarter, and efficiently, day and night. It's the perfect addition to the Easee charging station.
In many Dutch homes, the available connection capacity is simply limited. If you're charging simultaneously and other major consumers are running (heat pump, induction cooktop, boiler, dryer), the total load can unexpectedly increase. Easee Equalizer helps you to maximum charging within the limits of your main fuse, without having to constantly switch gears yourself.
The tagline from the official video sums it up nicely: “it's that easy”, the Equalizer ensures that charging takes place automatically.
What is the Easee Equalizer exactly?
De Easee Equalizer is a compact load balancer that communicates with your smart meter and your Easeecharger(s). It continuously measures total energy consumption and intelligently distributes the available power between household appliances and your EV charger(s). This makes charging safer, more efficient, and hassle-free.
Think of the Equalizer as the “translator” between your meter box and your charging station: it indicates how much space is left to load so that you Easee-charger can automatically adjust accordingly. Instead of manually reducing the charging power, this happens continuously and automatically based on your current consumption.

How does dynamic load balancing work with the Equalizer?
Real-time distribution of available power
The Equalizer automatically manages how much power is available for your EV, based on your home's energy consumption. The system continuously monitors how much power your household needs and distributes the remainder to your charging station. If home consumption is low, the charger can noticeably faster charging because more power is released. Easee communicates that in ideal situations this can be “up to several times faster”, depending on your connection and simultaneous consumption.
Practical example: If you're cooking on induction in the evening and the heat pump is running, the Equalizer will temporarily reduce the charging capacity. Later in the evening, as soon as home consumption drops, it will automatically increase the capacity again. This way, you can charge as quickly as possible without your main fuse becoming the "weak link."
Reduce infrastructure costs
Because you no longer need grid reinforcements, you save on investing in more expensive grid installations. The Equalizer prevents your main fuse from being exceeded at no extra cost.

Full control via the app
With the Easee You can easily use the app Easee Manage charging stations. In the app you have access to all facilities and the various charging stations. Easee The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. You can download it directly from Google Play or the App Store.
You can in the Easeeapp:
-
View the status of your electric charging station
-
Start or pause charging
-
Adjusting the load capacity
-
Plan in advance when your electric car charges
-
Perform access control
-
Lock the charging cable + much more…
De Easee Equalizer makes charging smarter, safer and more transparent.
Paired with the Equalizer The app also provides insight into the available charging capacity. The Equalizer indicates how much capacity is "left over," so the charger can safely deliver the maximum power when possible and automatically switch back when your household needs it.
Installation & compatibility of the Easee Equalizer
Smart meter required (or alternatives)
-
In homes with a smart meter (P1/HAN port activatable) you can connect the Equalizer directly.
Do you have an active P1/HAN port? Then the P1 Bundles the most plug and play:
Easee One EU + Equalizer P1 Bundle, Easee Charge Up + Equalizer P1 Bundle of Easee Charge Max + Equalizer P1 Bundle.
Tip: If necessary, have your P1 port activated by your grid operator or metering company. Without an active port, the Equalizer cannot read measurement data, and load balancing remains limited.
-
Don't have a smart meter? Then use the Equalizer Amp, which measures consumption via CT clamps and works in conjunction with the Equalizer. Then choose the Easee Equalizer AMP – P1 Bundle so that you can still use load balancing. (link to product)
Easy to install via radio connection
According to the installation guide, the Equalizer works via Easee Radio Link™, a radio base line that reaches up to 50 meters. If the charger is further away, you can also connect it via Wi-Fi.
Fast pairing without power source
You don't even need to power the Equalizer to pair it, simply hold it near the LED strip on your EaseeCharger and you'll receive a confirmation when pairing is successful. Then, connect it via the HAN/P1 port, and it will automatically appear in the app.
Easee describes this as follows: hold the front of the Equalizer along the light strip of the charger; once the charger green If the light is on, the pairing is successful. Then, plug the Equalizer into the HAN/P1 port, and it will appear as operational in the app after a short time.
Note: You mention a range of "up to 50 meters"; I'm deliberately leaving that out unless you want to get it exactly from a Easee source quotes.

Easee Equalizer and charging with solar energy
De Easee Equalizer works seamlessly with solar energy, allowing your electric car to be optimally charged with self-generated power. Through real-time load balancing, the Equalizer intelligently distributes the available power between your household and the charging station. In combination with EaseeWith its solar charging functionality, you can choose to charge your EV mostly or entirely with solar power. This makes charging not only safer and more efficient, but also more sustainable and cost-effective.
In Easee-app you can choose between two approaches (depending on your setup):
-
solar: charging exclusively with solar energy
-
Grid + Solar: charging with a mix of grid power and solar power
This way you can adjust your charging sessions to comfort (always charging) or maximum self-consumption (as much sun as possible).
Frequently Asked Questions about the Easee Equalizer
Does the Easee Equalizer without internet connection?
Yes. If communication between Equalizer and charger via radio (Easee Link™) expires, it also works offline. Internet access is only required for app functionality.
What is the maximum speed at which you can charge?
According to Easee: up to 6× faster than without load balancing, when consumption is low.
Does the Easee Equalizer also without a smart meter?
No, but with the Equalizer Amp it still works with load balancing.
Can I have multiple Easee Balance chargers simultaneously with one Equalizer?
Yes, the Equalizer directs the available power so that you Easee-ecosystem can intelligently distribute charging. With multiple chargers, correct configuration at each location is especially important.
Is Easee Is solar charging possible without an equalizer?
In practice, the Solar Charging functionality uses an Equalizer to measure and intelligently allocate available (surplus) power.
What if my Equalizer doesn't show any usage in the app?
First, check whether the P1/HAN port is active and whether the equalizer is connected correctly. In installations without a smart meter, the wiring/compatibility of the electricity meter and sensors is often the cause.
Why the Easee Equalizer is a must-have
